The Smart car brand, independent trend magazines and international top creatives – what do these three have in common? They may not at first glance, but on closer inspection quite a lot. They all share a philosophy of constantly questioning issues when it comes to global environmental challenges currently facing us all. Sideways: A Smart Art Project assembles a fresh collection of work that evaluates the way in which we think about the environment and mobility by 100 international artists curated by 11 top international magazines. The rich diversity of work from photography, illustration and graphic design to painting, sculpture and architecture presented in this anthology show how we can promote greener modes of transportation and shape our future path in a positive way.

The following eleven magazines curated this book: Dazed & Confused(UK), Tokion (USA), Drome (Italy), INDIE (Austria), Style 100 (Germany), +81 (Japan), Blend (The Netherlands), Baby Baby Baby Magazine (Mexico), Neo2 (Spain), WAD (France) and NO Magazine (Norway). Artists presented in the no-section: Blunderbuss/Ida Gullhav, Justin Bartlett, Are Mokkelbost, Ane Graff, Benjamin Alexander Huseby, Marcel Leliënhof, Siri Hermansen/Claudia C. Sandor, Siren Lauvdal, mmv architects of norway and Halvor Bodin.
